La Medusa Beach Pavilion
Project type
Culture & Community
Date
2025
Location
Quintana Roo, Mexico
Nestled among lush native vegetation on the shores of Isla Mujeres, the beach pavilion offers a sculptural, fluid gesture at the heart of the hotel. Inspired by the graceful curves of marine life—like the flowing skirt of a sea creature—the structure dances lightly with the ocean breeze.
Its form is defined by an elegant shell of translucent Nautilus rope, woven in sweeping arcs that cast ever-shifting patterns of dappled light and shade. This lightweight construction evokes a sense of movement and ease, echoing the rhythms of the sea.
At its core, the pavilion shelters a open-air bar—an inviting space where guests gather, rest, and take in the endless blue horizon. Both architecture and atmosphere, it is a quiet celebration of place, motion, and material.
