Place of Worship
Location
Victoria, Australia
Amid the rhythm of passing cars and the hum of daily life along Canterbury Road, a quiet threshold emerges—a sanctuary shaped for reflection, belonging, and faith.
Designed for the Islamic Indian community, this place of worship embraces its urban setting yet gently withdraws from its noise. A delicate veil of breeze blocks and geometric screens filters the world outside, softening light, sound, and shadow. Beyond, a curated path winds through landscape and small gardens—inviting the faithful and the curious alike to slow down, to breathe, to arrive.
Each element—stone, screen, and tree—works in quiet harmony to create a realm of stillness. Within, devotion finds space; outside, the building stands as a gesture of openness, peace, and presence.
This is not just a building—it is a threshold between worlds: the everyday and the eternal, the street and the sacred.
